Ask anyone what they think when they think of a driver and they will come back with answers ranging from a smartly dressed, discreet driver to a Lord of the manor or an MP running his business. Or maybe you think of driver "Parker" Thunderbirds, who did exemplary service to Lady Penelope. Others might say that drivers are just smartly dressed taxi drivers, which they are in some ways. But they are first-class taxi drivers who offer a tailor-made and personalized service that must meet the needs and wishes of each client. After all, no two people are the same, and the driver's service must recognize and fulfill this, surpassing the call of Duty.

So the question that should be asked when considering hiring a driver is; how do I find that Angel of the road and make sure I don't end up like a cowboy, no better than calling my local unreliable taxi company? Not that all local taxi companies are seedy or cowboy.

Like most things, it's best to know what you want, what to offer within the service, and of course the cost of the service. At this point, you need to remember that you don't always get what you pay for.

What you want should be relatively simple, because a hired driver is needed for a wedding, business meeting, party or special event that needs a touch of class or gloss. This is important because the necessary vehicle and additional accessories must be clearly communicated to the driver.

The next point, which should be provided within the service, is about the features that a good driver should have, and includes the full etiquette of asking the driver to call you Mr or Mrs and open and close the doors for you at all times. He, as you can get with female drivers, is well dressed, generally considered a good black suit, white shirt, black tie and, of course, polished shoes. He must have a full and clean driver's license and always comply with traffic rules without exception.

For that extra mile to go, a good driver should be able to give advice about the area and indeed be a guide if you wish and if you have good local knowledge, be able to deliver you safely and on time. The driver will also provide you with light refreshments or snacks that you want and need to ask if you want this service.

It is very important that the driver should always be professional and respectful, ensuring discretion and confidentiality. The driver reflects you and should always behave with dignity.

If a driver has not yet been hired, it can be difficult to get a quality service that meets the above expectations. Verbal is often the best way to confirm and ask friends or family members for advice on whether they can recommend a driver. If not, check the company's Facebook page and examine reviews from previous customers. Then call a number of driver companies in the area, ask what they offer and explain the requirements. Careful consideration will give you the perfect driver for the perfect occasion.
